bloooogggg.

okay, so this one seemed like it'd be better told in comics form.

so yeah, sorry about the shoddy quality. I need to sleep now. Also when I said "1AM" I of course meant like "5:30PM " mom, don't worry. Poetic license you know? I'd never take 10 steps out of my building that late at night....
As for everyone else, buy some dip n dots too. I only said nice things about them, but let's be safe here.

And for those offended by my crude humor, I am a jerk, an awful person, scum of the earth, and a wretchedly bad attempt at an artist who should be pelted with heavy, smelly things but is not worth the effort. There. Now we're both offended. Case closed.

kicking it old-school.

So I've been dilligently working: on school, on some new photos (up soon), on figuring  out the technical aspects of the the hopefully comic book (for those of you who know it by its codename) and I can't help but find the last is another one of those things that I'm very hesitant about. I like ideas, but I easily scare when faced with realities. So In order to keep this place fresh and spiffy because it is getting hit up like a real blog these days, I'm posting this. It's a comic I did a little over a year ago, and I just found it the other day. I really think it's funny that even though I feel like my life has changed so much since then, I still really identify with it.

..personally, I don't feel like I've ever posted something that was so personal in this way, but I'm trying to stop being so afraid of all that, and honestly if you know me and you weren't aware that I'm constantly nervous and a little emotionally fragile, especially when it comes to friendships ending and such. Plus, I've gotten a lot better at things since then. Like now this comic is up for the world to see, and I'm more than willing to admit I drew it and that's something I like to do. And when you think about all the progress you've made, all you've got to go is less daunting.
*if you just stumbled here and are now going "whaaa?" I'm sorry. The thinking out loud usually isn't so feelingsy.

time.

Okay, so I'm impossibly slow on the whole posting things relevant bit, and that really does make me feel bad, especially since in the past few days I've been getting a bunch (relatively) of visits from people looking at c.o.m. contributors. So i thought i'd explain why it's taking so long for new stuff to show up:
See, it's just not easy being really easily distracted. (sorry for the poor quality, but I literally just did this in a couple minutes)
But i am seriously going to get some work done today, and also, if you're interested in any more work from me, follow the blog or sign up for the feed. Especially if I already know you and you're just going to expect me to tell you person that I posted something, because i love you, but you're defeating  the point of blog. Also, if you're only really interested in when the new minicomic thingamagig is finished/goes on sale, just leave some kind of contact info in the comments and I'll let you know.

words..

It's been a good past couple of days for the most part. I got my darkroom access keys and spent a fantastic few hours in there developing film and now have a ton of beautiful, beautiful negatives to make prints out of. and of course a mysterious darkroom-related injury (yeah, I'm one of those people who says "oh hey, I'm bleeding, how'd that happen? gee, it really isn't stopping is it?" a lot) that due to possible chemical interaction might lead to superpowers (or, you know, infection and minor poisoning). But it really isn't that bad and I cleaned it so no worries. Also, in my state of photo related giddiness I'm trying to balance in  my comics as well, which i seriously thought was going to be a fail, but I worked on some drawings for the cover last night and ended up staying up way too late, but it happens. So that's my life right now. Oh and school.

I know there was something I wanted to write about but I completely blanking on it.

Oh wait now I remember. So I've been reading "Perfect Example" by John Porcellino reccently (it's some excepts from King Cat...really good) and it really has got me thinking about how sometimes the super- simple- minamalist- day- in- the- life kind of stuff can really just blow you away and be really phenomenal. Which is good , because I've been worrying a lot lately that  my stuff is very simplistic and amateur, and therefore really pedestrian. But then i see something like that, and I think: but you can say the world wide world with simple. Especially the things you can't explain, you can just get across somehow. And that makes me feel a lot better, even though I doubt I'll ever be half as good. But I try and that's what counts. So long as you try.

Whoa, that got greeting-cardsy pretty fast. I'll be less warm and fuzzy in next post, promise. Got to go!

oh, and sorry about just linking to amazon...but I trust that now that you know what the cover looks like you can go down to you favorite comic book store and get it (yay for independent local retail! ..rant about that some other time)

(..end transmission..)

super hooray!

So the newest issue of Candy or Medicine is out. And I know you're thinking "Well, that is one of my favorite minicomic quarterlies, but why the super hooray? Wouldn't just 'hooray' suffice?". Well, no it would not, because the new issue includes a never before seen comic by yours truly. So buy it, tell other people to buy it, give it as a gift for first-transatlantic-radio-transmission-anniversary-day (or first-time-a-plane-landed-on-a-boat-anniversary-day, if you prefer, both happened today in 1903 and 1911, respectively), basically, just get it, always a good read and just a buck!

new year, new pictures

Okay, so here are some new pictures (from my new-to-me camera!). Not a lot to say about that, but I'm trying to get back into the posting-regularly thing. Being back at the parents' house always seems to throw me off my routines. Probably due to the ready availability of food, tv, and a quiet place to sleep. But I took pictures! That's something! And worked on the hopeful comic book. That's its codename right now, "the hopeful comic book" because hopefully it gets together in a timely fashion.
