cats! (status updates
Okay, so there's only one cat..but isn't it neato? I found this on someone else's blog (honeyb, very cute apparel and goods, and when I say goods I mean cat shaped pillows..I wish they'd make one that looked like my cat..but awesome stuff even if cat pillows isn't your thing ...check it here ) but anywho...I've got a lot of work I ought to be doing that I am not (story of my life) and I just keep finding more and more distractions (I've taken up and entered a love/hate relationship with an internationally beloved craft...expect a comic of it soon-ish.) Just till Wednesday. After Wednesday I will be done with finals and homeward bound. And then things will start making sense. By the way, I apparently got a lot of visits to the blog this past week...nice to meet ya'll, follow or subscribe to the feed and then you can, you know, just skim my posts and come over when you think I may be saying something interesting.

and now...a new comic!
Okay, this is one of many short pieces that I keep saying I'm going to post soon. It's just a rough copy though, obviously needs to be fixed up, but I just wanted to post something (you know the whole bark/bite thing). Also thought it might get me motivated to actually do something right now.
(click on it and it will pop up in life size...this was the biggest it would fit on the post, but is too small to read)

Oh and the first panel makes a lot more sense when it's put in context...but you're just going to have to wait. |

Am I old enough to say "I wish I were a kid again"?
Because if I am, I will. Looked through a file of pictures I nabbed off the computer of my parents house, which included a portfolio and some other random pictures that date back to me being in high school, which while I hated it at time, was a lot less work than college, hence the I wish I were a kid again. Just to be taking all of these pictures again.
This one is so simple, not fantastic composition or anything, but I really love it. |
Against Me! @ the Wiltern October 2008. One of my favourite concert pictures from one of my favourite bands. |
if you blow the original of this up really big, you can actually see butterflies in the branches |
Also from Against Me! show in 2008..I actually have this one above my bed. And yes, that's a stage-eye perspective. I never said I was a good kid... |
The (international) Noise Conspiracy, sometime in 2008. |
deer! |
Okay, I'll post more of the oldies later (still like 100 more to go through) because I've got a lot of papers to write and things to study for. I think if I can finish another page on my paper by 12:00, I'll let myself work on some comics. Yes, I know, when are these so-called comic materializing? Do they actually exist? Yes, and I'll put something up soon. As soon as I find my way to a scanner, I guess.

snow, unplugged
It's snowing, I am ecstatic.
Also, I'm now a photographer for a site that highlights all the musical goings on in Walla Walla. Here are a couple of pictures I took at tonight's unplugged, as in people playing non-electronically aided music in the complete dark. Not the easiest thing to take pictures of. If anyone wants to start a "Tori obviously needs a new digital camera fund" I'd be more than happy to be your charity case... This is of course a joke. With any luck I'll have a new (to me) camera of better quality by the holidays...

anything, everything, whatever
So I was treating myself to some kill-time-on-the-interwebs time because I can (I really shouldn't be, but I feared I was going insane earlier today and thought it might be a good idea to give the old brain a rest), and realized i update my blog a lot less than other people. Additionally, I make mid-sized life announcements on other people's blogs. like that I'm working on my very first full-length comic book and it should be done by the end of the calendar year. I'll most definitely put some pages from it up here i the coming days/weeks and probably sell it through etsy or something for as cheap as possible (I'm not trying to make buckets o' cash money, I just love the idea of a narrative you can hold and turn pages and such...not that I don't like webcomics too, I'm just a tad old-fashioned). But with announcement-time out of the way, here's some other stuff I've been plugging away at.
love it? hate it? don't care? comment.

late...or early
I know, what is a sick one like me doing awake at this hour? (oh, yeah, did I mention I have an upper respiratory infection?) But all this sleep has me drastically off normal human timetables...and drawing really awesome comics (I literally just finished something that I think is kind of my favorite thing I've drawn...) but here's a photo I really like that I took at like 3AM the other day...from my window, I didn't actually go outside at 3AM in the rain while sick, that'd be dumb...(oh, wait, I don't think my mom follows my blog...guess that info wasn't necessary).

new new new!
Okay so this is something from what I am currently working on...and I just wanted to share...because I can. And yes, I just finished this two minutes ago and took a picture of it as opposed to scanning because I'm in my pajamas and not getting dressed again just to go scan something. Also, doesn't the text for my astro course have the most pretentious title? (as well as still having the price tag on it..tacky, I know) But it's what we all isn't it? (in quest of the universe, not pretentious or tacky.)
Oh and there's now an rss feed, so you don't have to personally ask me when I'm going to put something new up. Gettin' snazzy up in here!

links and such
To entertain you and give props to my various peeps (...gangsta-ism) I added a guide to some other great blogs for you to look at (all better than this one, guaranteed). and put my new twitter name up on the about me, so you know, if you're really bored/obsessive you could hear about my general thoughts on nothing in particular in 140 characters.
just words
Does anyone else feel like Halloween is weird when it's on a Sunday? Like you already did most all your Halloween things Friday or Saturday and now it's just like wha? Still Halloween? No, I already watched the Halloween episode of every show, including some which I've never watched before and never will again, while making my costume, which I already wore to a fun Halloween party. I've listened to Halloween music, decorated, had ghost shaped cookies, struggled to get my keys out of my shoes at 1AM (even when I make my own costumes...there are never pockets! "costume" and "pockets" just don't go together..fortunately I've figured out i can put most everything I direly need: keys, card, and phone, into my chucks...also they give more traction when walking around in the rain than cute go-with-costume shoes..although I don't really know what shoes go with a tiger costume...). But here's to anyone still handing out candy or watching horror movies or etc, good job. But I'm just posting to say that starting tomorrow I'm working on a kind of bigger project than I usually do that will leave my very engrossed for at least the next month, so I may just be posting "oh look at this old comic I found" or "check out these pictures...that aren't recent, but new to you" or maybe even some "this isn't finished yet but lookie-look!" and then there's a lot of other stuff going on (everyone here knows I'm still in the process of going to school right?) So that will also be taking up time from me being a good blogger, which I pre-apologize for.

finally.
Okay here's some I was waiting until I had altogether to to post. I always viewed them as a kind of series. Just as a reference, none of these in their original form is bigger than the palm of your hand, kind of like those wallet-sized, outdated pictures of their relatives that people used to carry around to show people in line with them at the supermarket who really didn't care before everyone got cellphones that could take pictures and kept them a good distance from everyone else at the supermarket, and these with large, awkward polaroid-esque borders to boot. Basically just the idea of what does home mean as a place.
