serigraphy, yo

Okay, so I'm going to let you in on a little secret: I am actually an idiot at art. Fancy terminology? Know none of it. Fancy supplies? Don't got 'em. Sense of decorum and/or shame? Never heard of it. Hence, when two of my program courses got cancelled and I need to pick new ones, I went with the biggest, fanciest term I could find in the course listing. Without having the slightest clue what it was. Turns out, it is just a fancy name for "a course on silkscreening". And yes, very art-smart people, I know, serigraphy is not only silkscreening, but all we're focusing on in the course is photoemulsion-based silkscreening, so that's that. Anyhow, here's the first color combo of the first print of some idiot (me). Not bad, eh?

Oh, and it's based off of here.

We're Americans abroad, Americans abroad, whatever there is to be said, say in it English!

First of the comics done in Florence to be posted. Also, yes, the title is an Against Me! reference. You should know by now that they're basically what I live my life to.

Also, is anyone/does anyone know any cartoonists/graphic novelists in Italy? It feels weird not having a comics-buddy here. Preferably someone who at least speaks un poco Ingles (little bit of English). Okay, I'll wait here while you go find friends for me.Thanks.

illustrations 2 & 3

Okay so here's the other two in the dressed animals series. They're designed to be ipad wallpapers (that was the assignment, I just drew weird stuff not caring). So if you'd like, download and use as a wallpaper, and then tell me or send me a picture, so I can finally be at peace knowing it's been field-tested and really works as a wallpaper (okay, now I'm just being snarky..but really let me know if you use it). Oh and if you missed the first one, or the drawing the series is based on, more animal fun for you!

And one last thing...yes I am still doing comics. In fact, I'm so bombarded with material that I've just been sketching them out and then moving on to the next one before I lose the idea, but by Saturday I should have time to fully finish and post some that are in progress.

Illustration 1

Okay, this is the first in a three part series I did for a class project (the others are finished just not scanned in).Meet Sid the Zebra:
watercolor and china ink drawing

If you really like him, stay tuned, because like I said, he has buddies, and also, I'm probably going to sell a lot of the stuff I make here for super cheap before I go just so I don't have to hassle getting it home.

More film prints..

See last post for explanation..

photography is fun! Yay for photography isn't it nice!

This one is an overlapping exposure on the print..I can't magically make it snow and not snow at the same time
Okay, so I gave this out as a website to a photography professor and am now trying to get this up to date, as well as implementing the tag "film prints" so that he doesn't have to dig through everything. So hopefully that works for him and everyone else can just enjoy.

Adventure Daze

From yesterday's wanderings around the city. Must say that I'm warming up to this place quite well. Also, sorry American readers that come here via twitter posts or whatever, but because of the time change, I'll probably by posting at odd times and/or not mentioning it..so just make the commitment and follow if you want to see stuff.

even the horses here are fancy...they won't eat in front of anything less than haute couture.

usually I don't know what to think of records as decorative pieces, but all lack of function aside, this is cool.

once again, Florence-fancy. This record store is in an old 19th century storefront that they've kept pretty much just like it was (but added records you could actually play, and hence, made it cooler)
