part three: grottos

Okay so the Medici Grottos are one of the most well-known things in the Boboli Gardens because, well, they look amazing..it was like being in Indiana Jones...I felt so cool! Oh and for those not up on the series, parts one and two in the Boboli gardens series are here.

part two:dishes

Okay, so between having a life, the internet being temperamental, and my computer spazzing out, I have yet to finish my Boboli Gardens Series. Well, have no fear, because, I'm on it. A probably lesser gawked at part of the gardens is the silver museum, which basically means "ridiculously ornate plates and such" as opposed to all actual silver items, and I suppose it is the sort of thing that most people's grandma's drag them in to view, but I not-so-secretly love looking at this sort of stuff. They're super-detailed, painstakingly gorgeous, and essentially JUST TO EAT OFF. Like think about that, once upon a time, that was just for someone fancy to place their fancy snack on whilst entertaining some other fancy person. And that's what a chunk of the people whom are nowadays making all sorts of cool art would be doing: putting all their love and energy into: a plate that only the fanciest of the fancy could even see. So while on one hand it's really great that all this attention was paid to making every little thing beautiful, it really makes me grateful for the modern age. Plus, did I mention there's a bug-themed bowl? Like a bowl based off the things you don't want in your bowl?!
obviously, no one ate off this

see? what'd I tell you? bug bowl!

part one: trees

So yesterday (Sunday) I finally meandered my way over to Boboli Gardens, and it's possibly the most fantastic place in Florence. I took both my 35mm film and DSLR cameras (unfortunately, my computer crashed while uploading from my memory card and I lost roughly 30 photos, so I guess I'll just have to go back..hooray for museum cards!), and went through a lot of media on both, so I decided to make a batch of mini albums that I'll post each day.

cheesy

Okay so this is something I did ages ago, kind of as a parody of those dramatic speeches they make in romantic comedies some friends and I were just like joking around about it and I was like oh I should draw that out, and then like as I scribbled it out I realized that totally cheesy things that I was doodling were hyperboles of actual feelings and then I got embarrassed and didn't post it(also, alcohol doesn't exist until you're 21..so how could I have made one of the claims herein?). So now that a good chunk of time has past and I just found it in a folder labeled "scanned things" I thought I'd post it. Because it's still kinda self-deprecatingly clever, although I wish it didn't say love at the end. Just because in terms of over the top, yes you have to say love, but in terms of legit feelings for a person, it's more like a "I just have to say I'm questioning whether or not I'm having feelings for you that go past friend-feelings". Also, now you know my dirty secret: I might actually have a heart, and had liked/like a boy.

thingamajigs

So I'm not really a contest entering kind of person, despite the public laundry-airing that is this little chunk of internet, I'm actually a wee bit shy. So anyhow, I read about this contest, and sketched something up while I was waiting for a train last week:

and..well, here you go.
As is obvious, it's for the upcoming shins album, which you really ought to check out, quite nifty sounding. So if you like the design you, can go vote for it here, or vote for someone else's, or submit your own .
And yes, I've been doing a lot of digital edited stuff lately, and to be frank I'm sort of sick of it... looks nice, but too much clicking. But I've still got  a few things to finish up before I can get back on the analogue train again.

be patient with me..

I hadn't meant to spend so long without posting, but it isn't without justifiable cause. Last week I was fortunate enough to get some time off from my program and travel a little bit and see some lovely friends (picture post of that coming soon), but also, less lovely, my laptop seems to be either slowly dying or is just making a desperate plea for attention, but either way it looking like I'm going to have to either take in for repair or try to restore to square one myself when I get back to the states..and until then just bear with. I've been working on a lot of different projects though, some of which have sworn me to secrecy, but I can show you one little bit of something I'm working on for a course (remember when I posted about bats..well here's the next step in that saga).
